The name HIMA, composed of the abbreviations of the words Hildebrandt and Mannheim, is registered as a business in the city of Mannheim. HIMA provides heavy industry with large control consoles in addition to control and monitoring sytems.
HIMA develops Planar, the first TÜV-certified safety system in the world. Today, after four generations, HIMA is still the first choice worldwide for process automation where there is an extremely high potential risk for humans, machines, and the environment. For example, emergency shutdown systems on oil rigs or in nuclear power plants. Planar 4 is the world's only safety system that operates up to Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 4. HIMA proves itself as a leading innovator and develops several cutting-edge solutions: including the SIL calculation tool SILence and the world's first intrinsically safe communication for Ex Zone 1 areas via Ethernet.
As part of its innovation research, HIMA develops the world's first SIL 3/PLe system for safely measuring distances. It is mainly used in intralogistics and demonstrates that the safety expertise of HIMA engineers is also in demand outside of the process and rail industries.

HIMA Automation Product Range

Each component of the HIMax safety system has been optimized for maximum performance. This enables multitaskingfrom up to 32 independent applications – from emergency shutdown to turbomachinery control. Everything can be controlled with a single system.
You can integrate new applications without negative effects. This also reduces the effort required for certification.
Regarding certification: HIMax complies with all relevant standards, from IEC 61508 to EN 50156. The PLC can be used for all SIL 3 applications and up to SIL 4 (CENELEC) in the rail industry.
Configuration and programming of HIMax runs via the user-friendly SILworX programming tool. This means faster validation and commissioning.

When mixing tanks are protected against explosion. When ethylene crackers process enormous quantities of raw material. Or when the burners in the cracking furnace of a refinery produce fire under the boiler. HIQuad ensures uninterrupted operation at all times.
The SIL 3 certified safety controller protects central and distributed applications equally – with maximum fault tolerance. And it is so flexible that you can even make program changes during operation.

This makes the solution incredibly cost-effective, particularly for tight market launch deadlines or when there is high pressure on costs. Thanks to its TÜV-certified operating system, the platform offers maximum intrinsic safety. All you have to do is ensure that your application is also safe.

The safety-related controllers and I/O modules of the HIMatrix series together with the fast safeethernet safety-related communication are the perfect basis for small to medium-sized systems. Multiple applications are always efficiently networked with one another.
All HIMatrix systems are certified for use up to SIL 3 and PL e (Cat. 4), as well as SIL 4 in accordance with CENELEC. Configuration and programming of HIMatrix runs completely via the user-friendly SILworX engineering tool. For faster validation and commissioning.

Wherever there is extremely high potential risk, the Planar4 controller from HIMA ensures maximum safety. It can be used in high-integrity pressure protection systems (HIPPS) for chemical operations and oil refineries. However, with a switching time of just 2 to 10 milliseconds, it can also be used in emergency shutdown systems on oil rigs and in extremely time-critical safety systems and higher-level shutdown systems. Application-specific programming is performed via wiring, such as soldering, Termi-Point, or wire-wrap on the backplane. No software needed.
At the same time, the technology requires very little space, enabling the Planar4 safety controller to come in a 19-inch rack. All modules can be redundantly structured to increase plant availability.
